How to move a customer toward a purchase with one small step
Let the user make one small choice, see a visible change, and move closer to the CTA.
Example: Nike By You — the user chooses product details and immediately sees how the final version changes.
Before the final button, you can let the user make a few small actions.
Choose an option.
Answer a question.
Customize a product.
Complete a short quiz.
See a personal result.
This helps a person get involved in the product faster.
Even one or two clicks can change the perception. The user has already chosen something, seen a reaction, and made a small step toward the result.
For example, he chose a color — the product became closer to his taste. Answered a question — got a more suitable recommendation. Specified a task — saw a scenario that fits his situation.
This can be used not only in products.
If you sell a service, you can first ask what task the user has. Then show a suitable scenario, an example of the result, or the first draft of a solution.
After that, the CTA looks more natural. The person already understands what he is putting together, why he needs it, and what result he can get.
A good scheme looks like this:
small action → visible change → next step → CTA
Participation makes the next action feel more natural.
